The CARARE team were in Vienna this November at CHNT 2024 with both the 5DCulture and Tech4Heritage projects.
The annual Cultural Heritage and New Technologies (CHNT) conference is held in Vienna in November each year. This year, the 5Dculture project team organised a panel session "Heritage Reloaded: Innovative Reuse of 3D Cultural Content" and set up an exhibition stand. Tech4Heritage was also present with an exhibition showcasing the project's results and activities.
In "Heritage Reloaded: Innovative Reuse of 3D Cultural Content" the 5Dculture project panel explored how 3D digital cultural heritage content is being re-imagined and reused across Europe. The project is pioneering new ways to enhance existing 3D content and creating innovative applications for museums, tourism, education, and beyond. Some of the highights of the panel were:
In the exhibition hall the stands hosted by both 5DCulture and Tech4Heritage attracted a lot of interest from attendees at the conference.
On the 5DCulture stand there were demonstrations of the various tools and applications developed in the project together with a table top display of a local Time Machine and some 3D printed objects.
On Tech4Heritage's stand, partners demonstrated project results and showed some of the 3D models produced in Iraq during the project. Visitors were interested in the fun and low tech plastic viewers that display 3D models as holograms, using the VR headset for an immersive experience and using their smartphones to explore the Tech4Heritage guide. Tech4Heritage shared its stand with the team from Talent SA whose repository software, Repox, is behind the Tech4Heritage guide.
